Sweet K All Things Yummy: Caldereta

Caldereta is a dish that is often served for family dinners.  For many Filipinos, it can be considered as comfort food for others, pang-fiesta.

Slow Cook Braised Caldereta

  • large pot


  • 2 cups water
  • 1 kg beef cubes
  • 2 packs tomato sauce
  • 1 head garlic, minced
  • 1 big red onion, sliced
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper, ground
  • 2 pieces bell pepper, sliced
  • carrots, sliced
  • potatoes, sliced
  • green olives
  • 1/2 cup quezo de bola, grated


  • Simmer beef and skim off the scum
  • Add all ingredients except olives, potatoes, carrots, and cheese
  • Slow cook beef until it is tender and mixture thickens
  • Always taste before you add more salt
  • Once it is tender add the rest of the ingredients and let it simmer until veggies is cooked
  • Enjoy!
